Mixing Assistant

This position is based in Los Angeles and reports to the Director of US Dubbing & Studio Services. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual who can work independently as well as within an established team. The Mixing Assistant will provide audio engineering services in order to create and deliver audio for Broadcast, Streaming and Theatrical.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluates the quality of source material, ensuring they meet the correct specifications by performing quality control checks of received assets.
  • Troubleshoots and corrects reported audio issues based on internal and external feedback.
  • Prepares all edited sessions for Mixing staff. Works closely with assigned mixer to stage assets, apply templates, and other duties as needed.
  • Conform already edited sessions to revised media
  • Prepares and delivers audio files according to client specifications.
  • Communicates frequently with the Project Management team, keeping them apprised of the project status.
  • Documents internal processes for consistency and efficiency.
  • Suggests improvements to workflows, tests new software, and assists with the creation of templates.
  • Understands and stays current with audio related workflows and emerging technologies.
  • Perform general administration duties as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours when and if needed.

Must be able to demonstrate:

  • Highly developed Pro Tools skills, including a strong background and understanding of audio post-production, file management, and organization.
  • Understanding of video frame rates, audio formats, and technical requirements.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 2 years’ experience in post-production audio engineering (Recording, Editing, Mixing).
  • Degree in Audio post-production or related field desired.
  • Experience with Mac environment, Pro Tools audio hardware, software, and plug-ins, including iZotope RX.
  • Understanding of and experience with using audio processing techniques, including but not limited to EQ, compression, reverb and delay.
  • Familiarity with signal flow and routing, including 5.1 routing within Pro Tools.
  • Understanding of audio and session formats and specifications.
